the mission of Community Groups is to be a safe, comfortable social space where individuals have the opportunity to make friends, share in the lives of others and grow in their relationship with God.
- Sharing – fellowship with God and with one another (1Jo 1:3-4, 1Thess 2:8,11)
- Support – help and encouragement in life (Rom 1:11, Acts 2:44-45)
- Mission – to be a witness to the world (Matt 5:13-16, John 13:34-35)
- Maturity – being conformed to the image of Christ (Rom 8:29, Col 3:1-10, Eph 4:13)
WHAT ARE COMMUNITY GROUPS?
Fellowship. Community. Friendship. Belonging. We all long for these things, but do we really know what these things look like, what they mean? How well are you doing in experiencing these things in your life? Based on so many recent sociological studies and our own personal observations, it is apparent that more and more people are feeling isolated and alone in this highly competitive, uber-busy, smartphone saturated society. In the midst of these challenges, we believe that God has created us for community. Relationship and community is not some nice option that we can take or leave like cream and sugar with our coffee, but is at the very heart of what it means to be human and what Jesus came to establish in and through the gospel. Listen to this recent message series where we explored the beauty of community, described what it looks like, and explained how we seek to form healthy community at Cross Community Rockville.
